ASCII

ASCII: American Standard Code for Information Interchange.

Most computers use ASCII codes to represent text, which makes it possible to transfer data from one computer to another. ASCII resides in the Presentation layer of the OSI Layer model and is used within the RS232, RS485 and the LAN units of Innovative Energies Power Supplies.

The standard ASCII character set uses just 7 bits for each character and it converts local host computer data representations into a standard network format for transmission on the network.

The Innovative Energies power supplies use the Protocol converters to display the encoded ASCII data to the information base.
